Why I Read

The reason why I started reading is because I was always lacking words whenever I tried to explain something. I always found myself stammering and causing dead air because I couldn't find in my head the word I wanted to say. My partner suggested that I read a book. Then, I started to love reading books. Next reason was I realized that I was lacking personal growth. I have always had bad habits. Procrastinating, anger issues, you name it. My partner pointed it out, gently, gradually, over the years. Then I learned about Atomic Habits. That book made me open my eyes.

I wanted books because I know that a phone wouldn't get me productive. I've been finding self-help books to improve myself. Then I just recently learned that a fiction would help me better. Then, it struck me, I've always wanted to read the books of the movies that I liked. Because they said the books are always better. I've got a lot of books now. And, as they say a book will spark your imagination and they are not lying. It does, not just for children but also for adults who is trying to get into reading. Every book I read gets me into another world, another imagination. And that's the reason why I love reading.

Because of my personal experience with books, I also wanted the children to experience those in their early life. Even a little library will be a big impact on the children. Where they can access after school, on weekends, after church, etc. A small change can make a big difference as Atomic Habits intend to say. Children who do not have the luxury to buy even one small book for themselves because they are struggling to survive, having a children’s library in Manila can be the greatest blessing they could have.
